Jill Snyder, MA, LPCA
Life happens…and we do our best to get through it. Wellness is a journey and recovery often happens together. After 15+ years teaching students with learning and behavior disorders, my practice is focused on the piece that teachers cannot impact – the need for high quality counseling.
I have a B.A. in Elementary Education, an M.A. in Learning & Behavior Disorders from Asbury University, and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary. After four years working in long-term recovery at the Refuge for Women, I focus on trauma and stress-related recovery. I am also fluent in working with student academically, behaviorally, and provide social skills instruction.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and EMDR influence my practice. My EMDR training was completed at Francine Shapiro’s EMDR Institute in California. EMDR works with the brain’s healing mechanisms and allows the client control that avoids re-traumatization. EMDR teaches strategies that enable the client to manage their own distress, empowers them to progress in a safe environment, and achieves healing from the past, help in the present, and hope for the future. Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, depression, neglect, abuse, neurodivergence, vicarious trauma, adjustment struggles, chronic health, and many other conditions have reported positive effects using this research-supported therapy. I enjoy working with clients of all ages.
In my free time I enjoy gardening, building projects, hiking, vocal and instrumental music, and spending quality time with my family and dogs. In-person and online appointments are available. If you are exhausted from your life experiences, are ready to develop an individualized plan for healing and hope for the future, please reach out today.
When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you. – Dr. Seuss
